Model Railroad News, "The All-Scale News Monthly"
Model Railroad News is a monthly magazine printed by LampLight Publishing, which details and highlights the latest information and news ongoing in the model railroad industry covering every possible scale you can think of. While other magazines like the very popular Model Railroader from Kalmbach Publishing and Railroad Model Craftsman from Carstens Publications, cover all bases from touching on news to modeling tips and tricks, MRN deals specifically with the latest models and gadgets on the market and gives you in-depth, expert advice and reviews on which are the best and perhaps which you may want to stay away from. All in all if you are an avid modeler who wants to find out more information about a particular model or gadget for your layout Model Railroad News is a great resource for such. While I have never taken out a subscription to Model Railroad News I have had the opportunity to receive a few trial issues and I must say that MRN really is the best resource out there if you are interested in the latest modeling news and information, no other magazine can beat it! For instance, directly from MRN here is some of what you can find in their monthly publications: · Classified Ads · Club News · In-depth Reviews · Industry News · National Hobby Show Coverage · New Product Announcements · Plenty of Photos! To give you an idea of just what some of the other major modeling magazines cover, such as Model Railroader, it has been on newsstands every month since 1934. The magazine covers many areas of modeling, from featuring superb layouts to giving tips and reviews on a variety of different topics. If you are modeler and need advice, especially if you are new to the hobby and just getting started, “MR” would be a good pick. Railroad Model Craftsman, like Model Railroader, features the latest information on new models, tips & tricks, news and reviews, layout overviews, plenty of photos, and lots more. I suppose your interest in one magazine over the other (RMC or Model Railroader) really would just depend on which you personally like better although I will say that RMC seems to have more information and tips for beginner modelers just learning the hobby.
The good thing about Model Railroad News is that you can find it at about any major bookstore (like Borders and Barnes & Noble) or small newsstand; pretty much everyone carries it so it is readily available. Also, if you are interested in subscribing to Model Railroad News, Amazon.com offers it at the general price of $29.95 for 12 issues, not a bad price considering that typical magazine subscriptions run around $40 and up these days.
