Cape Cod Dinner Train (2026): Dates, Tickets & What to Expect

Published: September 20, 2026

By: Adam Burns

The Cape Cod Dinner Train is Cape Cod Central Railroad’s evening plated meal: a four-course dinner on white table linens while the train runs former New Haven Cape Cod Lines toward the canal. Regular 2026 service is about 3 to 3½ hours. First Class from $99.99 (ages 13+). Departures are Hyannis, Buzzards Bay, or North Falmouth depending on the date. This is the dinner product. Licensed Polar Express leaves Buzzards Bay on a different ticket.

About Cape Cod Central Railroad

Cape Cod Central began public excursions in 1999 over about 33 miles of the old New Haven between Buzzards Bay and Hyannis. The Cape Train is a dining railroad first. Scenic Canal and Hyannis excursions run by day. Dinner, luncheon, and Sunday brunch are the seated-meal family. The kitchen works on board. The Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge is a highlight when maritime traffic lets the span come down; the railroad says the boat has priority and will not refund if the bridge stays up.

What the evening is like

Arrive 45 minutes early for parking and will-call. Boarding starts 30 minutes before departure. Tables seat four. Parties of one or two may share unless you buy the private-table option. First Class is a rebuilt 1937 diner or the lower dome. Premium is the upper dome. Platinum is the 1917 Cape Codder lounge, 21+ only. The meal is four courses: grazing board, soup, entrée, dessert. Bar drinks are extra. Smart or upscale casual; the railroad asks you to match the linen.

Hyannis is the default. Buzzards Bay Fridays skip a handful of dates (including the Rails & Ales night). North Falmouth is trackside with no wheelchair boarding. Hyannis and Buzzards Bay have ramps; buy First Class–Wheelchair if you need one. Wheelchairs max 26 inches wide. No ADA restroom on dining trains.
