Published: October 15, 2025
By: Adam Burns
There are three different Halloween-themed train rides offered in Michigan at the Coopersville & Marne Railway in Coopersville, Huckleberry Railroad in Flint, and the Little River Railroad in Coldwater.
Both the Little River and Huckleberry Railroads even operate historic steam locomotives! These are quite a sight to see, no matter the time of year. More information about all of the state's Halloween train rides may be found further below.
Other Halloween Attractions
Halloween is a beloved holiday in Michigan, and there are plenty of haunted houses, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and other spooky attractions to enjoy. If you are looking for more than just a train ride for Halloween here are some of the most popular attractions in Michigan:
Erebus Haunted Attraction - Pontiac
Erebus Haunted Attraction is one of the most popular haunted houses in Michigan. It's located in downtown Pontiac, and features four floors of terrifying thrills. The haunted house is so popular that it even made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Largest Walk-Through Haunted Attraction" in 2005.
Hush Haunted Attraction - Westland
Hush Haunted Attraction in Westland is a popular haunted house that's known for its immersive and interactive experience. Visitors are given a flashlight to navigate the dark maze, and must solve puzzles and interact with actors to progress through the attraction.
Slaughterhouse Adventure & Grand River Corn Maze - Fowlerville
The Slaughterhouse Adventure & Grand River Corn Maze in Fowlerville offers a variety of Halloween attractions, including a haunted house, corn maze, hayride, and more. The haunted house is a popular attraction, featuring over 20,000 square feet of scares.
Scarefest Scream Park - Lenox Township

Whether you're looking for a traditional haunted house, a spooky corn maze, or a terrifying outdoor trail, there's something for everyone in Michigan. So gather your bravest friends and head out to one of these popular Halloween attractions for a night of Halloween fun!
(Coopersville): The Coopersville & Marne Railway, based in Coopersville, Michigan offers a wide variety of train rides to choose from including train robberies, "Pizza Trains", "Santa Trains," "The Great Train Robbery" adventure, "Murder Mystery" trains, and more.
Their popular "Pumpkin Train" is offered during several weeks in the fall where kids can pick out a pumpkin, sing songs, and enjoy other activities during the trip. These trips last for 90 minutes and are somewhat unique by offering guests the chance to choose three different classes of service for the ride; coach, premium, and caboose. All trips depart from the railroad's little depot in downtown Coopersville.
(Flint): The Huckleberry Railroad is part of the Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad Park. The railroad’s star attractions are two steam locomotives, #2 and #464 which pull numerous trips throughout the year.
For those interested in rail history, the train runs over a short stretch of the old Pere Marquette's Otisville Branch (which once even extended further beyond this town) along the C.S. Mott Lake.
It is somewhat unique in that the railroad has built loops at each end to eliminate the need for turntables or operating locomotives in reserve. Nevertheless, the Huckleberry's real attraction is its fine collection of narrow-gauge steam locomotives previously mentioned.
One of their successful specials is the "Ghost Train Express" celebrating the Halloween holiday, which lasts nearly an hour. This trip is part of a wide range of Halloween activities offered at the Crossroads Village.
(Coldwater): The Little River Railroad is based in Coldwater, Michigan offering rides as far west as Quincy, about 6 miles away. The railroad normally uses its 4-6-2 Pacific steam locomotive to pull trains although they also have a small 0-4-0 tank engine on hand for special events as well.
During the fall season the railroad hosts "Pumpkin Trains" for the kids where they can enjoy a trip out to the pumpkin patch and pick out their favorite pumpkin for carving. The railroad recommends to purchase tickets in advance as they often sell out quickly.
