Adirondack Dinner Train (2026): Dates, Tickets & What to Expect

Utica’s Adirondack Railroad runs the Adirondack Dinner Train on select evenings, not every week. The Utica trips leave Union Station at 6 p.m., run about three hours up the old New York Central toward Remsen, and come back without a station stop for dinner. Chef Patrick O’Connor of Feast & Festivities plates the meal. First Class general seating is $139. Diamond Class, the dome, starts at $159. One complimentary drink is included.

About the Adirondack Railroad
The Adirondack Railway Preservation Society started in 1992 on a few miles of the New York Central’s Adirondack Division out of Thendara. The public railroad now runs from Utica’s Union Station north through the foothills, with longer trips to Old Forge and, on the High Peaks Limited, to Tupper Lake. Dinner trains began in 2023. Daytime coach rides and fall foliage trips are a different ticket. This page is the seated dinner.

What the evening is like
You are in a table seat, not a day-coach bench. General seating means the railroad may put another party at the table. Private tables are sold for two, three, or four, and the price on the site is for the table, not per person. Diamond Class is the step up into the dome, which is why the New York dinner guide mentions it for the view. The train leaves at 6, the kitchen works while you roll north, and you are back in about three hours. Cancellations inside 72 hours of a dinner trip have been posted at a 50 percent fee. Read that line before you book a weather-uncertain October date.
The August 27 Old Forge departure, same fares, ran north from Thendara toward Beaver River and did not let passengers off. Valentine’s, February 13 and 14 from Utica, used the same three-hour shape at its own private-table prices. Both of those windows are over for 2026. October 15 is the date still sitting on the Utica series page.
Tickets & practical
- Booking: adirondackrr.com. Select dates only. Weekend dinner inventory is small
- Station / parking: Utica Union Station, 321 Main Street. Allow time for downtown parking before a 6 p.m. departure. Thendara is a different boarding point on the Old Forge ticket
- Age / alcohol: The dinner train is sold as a meal with one included drink and a bar for more. It is not posted as 21+ only. The Beer & Wine Train is the adults-only ride: 6:30 p.m., about two and a half hours, Utica to Remsen, hors d’oeuvres in First Class, from about $40 coach / $60 First Class, and it is not this dinner
