Maryland Halloween Train Rides (2026)

Maryland’s posted 2026 Halloween rides are a pumpkin train in Cumberland and a trolley weekend in Colesville. Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch Limited runs October 17, 18, 24, and 25. The excursion page lists $14 for all ages, and a pumpkin is included. National Capital Trolley Museum runs Trolleyween on October 24, 25, and 31.

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad

(Cumberland): The Pumpkin Patch Limited is a one-hour round trip from the Western Maryland station to Bone Cave and back. Guests pick a pumpkin and stickers at the patch. Check-in includes games and light refreshments. Costumes are welcome. The excursion page lists $14 for all ages, and the pumpkin is included. The ticket’s own note asks guests to arrive 45 minutes before departure. Board at 13 Canal Street, Cumberland. Phone (301) 759-4400.

The dated ticket calendar, checked September 30, lists four days. October 17 and October 18 depart at 9:30 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. October 24 uses those four clocks and adds 7:00 p.m. October 25 departs at 9:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. The ticket headline still says the ride runs October 24, 25, and Halloween. October 31 had no departure on that calendar. Buy the slot that is actually listed.

Wheelchairs fit in standard coach at the Cumberland depot. The stop at Bone Cave has no accessible way off the train. Tell the staff if someone will stay aboard, and they will bring that guest a pumpkin. A refund is available until two weeks before the trip. Inside two weeks the railroad’s policy is an in-house credit. Day-of cancellations are not refunded. The mountain daytime ride is the Western Maryland Scenic guide. National Capital Trolley Museum

(Colesville): Trolleyween is three days on the museum calendar. Saturday, October 24, runs from noon to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 25, runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 31, runs from noon to 5:00 p.m. Streetcars in the hall are decorated for Halloween. The ticket includes a scavenger hunt and unlimited rides. Children in costume receive a treat. Families can paint a wooden Halloween ornament for a small extra charge while supplies last. The event pages do not print a fare. Read it on the ticket. The museum is at 1313 Bonifant Road, Colesville. Phone (301) 384-6352.

B&O Railroad Museum

(Baltimore): The Pumpkin Patch Express page still on the museum site is headed October 28 and 29, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. That is the old event. The museum now also uses the name National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation. Its 2026 Halloween listings are different. Haunted Histories on October 31 is a 1:00 p.m. walking tour. Tails on the Rails on October 25 runs from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and does include the Mile One Express to Carroll Park, leaving at 2:00 p.m. That ticket is the dog event. Members are $15 and general admission is $20. Each dog needs an adult, a current rabies record, and a waiver.

Walkersville Southern

(Walkersville): The railroad’s pumpkin page says the event has passed. No 2026 date was posted when this page was checked. The fare sheet still lists pumpkin and trick-or-treat prices. Buy a ticket when a 2026 date is on the calendar. October trips that are already posted are the Walkersville fall foliage trains. The station is 34 West Pennsylvania Avenue. Phone (301) 898-0899.

Planning tips

At Cumberland, October 17 and 18 share four clocks. October 24 adds 7:00 p.m. October 25 has no noon trip. The headline still mentions Halloween. The calendar did not.
The $14 fare on the excursion page includes a pumpkin. Arrive 45 minutes early for check-in at 13 Canal Street.
Colesville’s three days use three different closing times. October 25 ends at 2:00 p.m. October 31 ends at 5:00 p.m.
A Baltimore pumpkin-train search still lands on the 2023 page. The 2026 museum train that includes a ride is Tails on the Rails, and that ticket requires a dog.
