Pennsylvania Halloween Train Rides (2026)

Published: September 29, 2026

By: Adam Burns

Pennsylvania’s 2026 Halloween trains are mostly daylight rides to a pumpkin patch. Everett runs steam to Kladder on October 3, 4, 10, and 17. Strasburg sells three different fall tickets, from a grove stop on October 3 to a fright show through October 25. Oil Creek is one Saturday, October 24, and the railroad is plain that it is not a haunted ride. The short lines at Kutztown, Kempton, Honesdale, Middletown, and West Chester fill the rest of the month.

Strasburg’s Brakeman’s Curse opened September 25. Confirm the railroad before you book. American-Rails.com does not sell tickets. Information compiled September 28, 2026.

Allentown & Auburn Railroad

(Kutztown): Pumpkin Trains leave Kutztown Station on October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, and 31, at 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. The railroad lists the trip at an hour and a half. The train stops at the picnic grove, where each passenger picks a pumpkin and each child gets a treat. The ordinary ride is an 8-mile round trip toward Topton. The FAQ says these trains are diesel, and there is no restroom on the train. Restrooms are in the station and at the grove. Ghost Stories at the Grove is a separate ticket on October 24 at 7:00 p.m., about two hours, with local author Charles J. Adams III. The pumpkin page does not print a fare. Scenic context is Pennsylvania scenic trains.

Everett Railroad

(Hollidaysburg): The Pumpkin Patch Train is October 3, 4, 10, and 17. The railroad lists it as steam, about one hour, an 8-mile round trip with about 20 minutes at the Kladder Pumpkin Patch. Departures can be 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon, 1:30 p.m., or 3:00 p.m., and they change by date. Adult is $25, senior $23, youth $19, under 2 free, and first class $40. Every ticket includes one pumpkin, apple cider, a cookie, and a decorating kit. The patch also has pumpkin bowling and a mini corn maze. Board at 244 Pullman Drive, Hollidaysburg, about 15 minutes before departure. Phone (814) 696-3877. The pumpkin page says steam. It does not name the engine.

Middletown & Hummelstown Railroad

(Middletown): The Pumpkin Patch Express stops along the line so each passenger can pick a pumpkin. A 2026 ticket is priced for Saturday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m.: $24 for ages 12 and older, $19 for ages 2 through 11, and $7 for an infant. The ride is about an hour and a half. The Hershey-Harrisburg events listing carries the same train from October 17 through October 25, so read the calendar for the other days before you assume a date. Board at 136 Brown Street. Arrive 30 minutes early. Costumes should be kid-friendly. Phone (717) 944-4435. Fall foliage on this line is a different ticket: Middletown & Hummelstown fall.

Oil Creek & Titusville Railroad

(Titusville): The Halloween Train is Saturday, October 24, leaving at 11:00 a.m. for about three hours through Oil Creek State Park. The railroad prints it twice: this is not a haunted train. Costumes are welcome. Children 12 and under get a treat bag, and the usual oil-boom narration is skipped because the trip is for kids. First class is $47 for all ages. Coach is $27 for adults, $25 for ages 60 and older, and $21 for ages 1 through 12. A child under 1 is free in coach. There is a $6 handling fee on an order. Arrive an hour early. Perry Street Station is 409 South Perry Street. Phone (814) 676-1733. The same day’s murder-mystery dinner is a different ticket. The foliage rides are Oil Creek fall.

Stourbridge Line

(Honesdale): The Pumpkin Patch Express is October 10, 17, 18, and 24, leaving at 4:00 p.m. for a two-hour round trip with a layover. Children pick a free pumpkin. Cider and donuts are for sale at the stop. Adults are $40. Children ages 3 through 12 are $35. Infants ride free. The station is 812 Main Street. An adults-only Blue Moon Express is a separate Halloween ticket on the same railroad. Read that listing if you want the night ride. Autumn dinner trains are a third ticket. Foliage context is Stourbridge fall.

Strasburg Rail Road

(Ronks): The 2026 Halloween tickets are three shows, and they do not share a fare. Pumpkins in Paradise is October 3: about 85 minutes, a 45-minute steam ride plus about 40 minutes at Groff’s Picnic Grove, with games, live music, and a complimentary pumpkin for children. Ages 12 and older are $34.98. Ages 2 through 11 are $29.68. The Haunting of Pumpkin Junction is a family mystery of about 70 minutes. Ages 12 and older are $47.70. Ages 2 through 11 are $37.10. The show starts 15 minutes before boarding at the Town Square Stage. The Brakeman’s Curse runs September 25 through October 25, about 45 minutes, at $87.98 for ages 12 and older and for ages 2 through 11. The show is on the Marian, car #88, and the railroad calls it a mystery with a little fright. Arrive 30 minutes early for any of the three. The station is 301 Gap Road. Earlier seasons sold a Legacy of Sleepy Hollow show. This year’s events list uses the three tickets above. The full write-up is the Strasburg Halloween trains page. The railroad profile is Strasburg Rail Road.

Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern

(Kempton): The Pumpkin Patch Train is October 17, 18, 24, and 25. The ticket is about 45 minutes. Every rider, adults included, picks a pumpkin, and decorating kits are back at Kempton station. Ages 12 and older are $18. Ages 3 through 11 are $18. An infant 2 and under is $2 and has to be added to an adult ticket. A priced departure on the calendar is Saturday, October 17, at 1:00 p.m. The other times are on that same calendar. The station is 42 Community Center Drive. Phone (610) 756-6469. Regular Sunday rides are a different, cheaper ticket and do not include a pumpkin. Fall color on the line is WK&S fall.

West Chester Railroad

(West Chester): The Halloween Special is a 90-minute round trip to Glen Mills. Ages 13 and older are $30. Ages 2 through 12 are $25. A toddler from 9 months through 23 months is $15. Kids get treats on the way. The railroad calls it a fun fall ride without the scares, and costumes are welcome. The layover is the 1880s Glen Mills station, the picnic grove, and the Red Brick Winery next door. The event page lists the fare and the length. The days are on the ticket calendar. Board at 230 East Market Street. Phone (610) 430-2233. The foliage express is a different ticket: West Chester fall.

Planning tips

  • Daylight pumpkin rides are Kutztown, Hollidaysburg, Middletown, Honesdale, Kempton, and Strasburg’s October 3 grove stop.
  • Oil Creek on October 24 and the West Chester Halloween Special are family rides. Read the scare line on Strasburg’s Brakeman’s Curse and on Allentown & Auburn’s October 24 ghost-story train before you take a young child.
  • Everett lists the pumpkin train as steam. Allentown & Auburn’s FAQ says its trains are diesel. Do not assume steam on the other lines.
  • Strasburg’s three Halloween tickets are not interchangeable. Buy the show you want.
  • Mid-October color on these lines is the Pennsylvania fall foliage guide.

Always verify 2026 dates and prices on the railroad’s official site. American-Rails.com does not sell tickets.
