New York Halloween Train Rides (2026)

Published: September 29, 2026

By: Adam Burns

New York’s 2026 Halloween trains are spread across four different drives. Catskill Mountain has the firmest family calendar: October 17, 18, 24, and 25 from Kingston. Adirondack Railroad lists a Thendara pumpkin train, a Holland Patent family train, and one trivia night at Tupper Lake on October 23. Arcade & Attica is the haunt, with a stop at a haunted house. Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley runs a patch train and a trick-or-treat train from Milford. Plan one railroad in a day.

Adirondack Railroad

(Thendara, Holland Patent, and Tupper Lake): These are three tickets. The Pumpkin Train leaves Thendara Station for Carter Station and Wally’s pumpkin patch. It is about an hour and a half, at 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Adults are $20, children $15, and seniors and military $18. A child in costume gets one free pumpkin. The Family Halloween Train leaves Holland Patent Station for Remsen Depot, about an hour and a half, at 10:00 a.m., noon, and 2:00 p.m. Adults are $22, children $15, seniors $20, and military $18. The depot stop has a pumpkin patch, a hay ride, and other activities, and a child in costume gets one free pumpkin. The railroad tells you to watch for ghosts and goblins along the ride. Both pages say the trains are climate controlled and to dress for the weather. The product pages list the clock and the fare. They do not print the 2026 days, so use the departure calendar. The one dated night is the Halloween trivia train on Friday, October 23, from Tupper Lake Station at 37 Depot Street. It leaves at 6:30 p.m., reaches Sabattis about 7:15, and is back in Tupper Lake about 8:00. David Rishe hosts. Adults are $22, ages 2 through 12 are $15, ages 62 and older are $20, and military and first responders with ID are $18. The profile is Adirondack Railroad. Fall trips are Adirondack fall.

Arcade & Attica Railroad

(Arcade): The Haunted Halloween Train is about 2 hours and 20 minutes, at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. You ride in costume to Curriers Station, get off, and can walk the haunted house. A kids’ treat bag is included. Cider and doughnuts are for sale. Ages 13 through 61 are $31. Ages 2 through 12 are $24. Ages 62 and older, and military with ID, are $29. A lap infant under 2 is free. Buy the group in one transaction if you want to sit together. The seats you buy are the seats you ride. The railroad’s page lists the clock and the fare. The days are on the ticket calendar. The station used on tourism listings is 278 Main Street. Phone (585) 492-3100. Foliage on this line is Arcade & Attica fall.

Catskill Mountain Railroad

(Kingston): Pumpkin Express trains are October 17, 18, 24, and 25, at 10:00 a.m., noon, 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. The ride is about an hour and a half and about 8 miles round trip on the former Ulster & Delaware, out to the patch and back. Passengers pick a pumpkin to take home. Adults are $25. A senior, military, or veteran discount adult is $23. Ages 2 through 12 are $19. A toddler under 2 on a lap is free. Open-air flat cars and coaches are both listed. Board at Westbrook Station, 55 Kingston Plaza Road. Phone (845) 332-4854. The earlier Fall Foliage Adventure is a different ticket: Catskill Mountain fall.

Cooperstown & Charlotte Valley Railroad

(Milford): The Leatherstocking Railway Historical Society runs two family Halloween tickets from the depot at 136 East Main Street. Both are about two hours, with a stop at Pop’s Glen. Apple cider from Fly Creek Cider Mill and cookies are included. The Pumpkin Patch Express lets each child and toddler ticket pick one pumpkin. The Trick-or-Treat Express gives each child one bag, plus candy and some non-candy train treats, and asks for family-friendly costumes. Boarding at Milford can take a wheelchair. The glen stop is down stairs, so call ahead if someone in the party cannot use them. Coach, premium coach, lounge, and a table for four are separate cars. A mixed reservation is not offered. Restrooms are on the train. The ticket page has the days and the fare for each car. Questions go to contact@cooperstowntrain.com. The state scenic guide is New York scenic trains.

Planning tips

  • The daylight pumpkin rides are Kingston, Thendara, Holland Patent, and Milford’s patch train.
  • Arcade & Attica is the one with a haunted house. Read that before you take a child who scares easily.
  • Tupper Lake on October 23 is a trivia night, a short evening trip, and a different ticket from the pumpkin trains.
  • Kingston, Arcade, Milford, and the Adirondack stations are four drives. Do not try to combine them.
  • Early and mid-October color is the New York fall foliage guide.

Always verify 2026 dates and prices on the railroad’s official site. American-Rails.com does not sell tickets.
