The Father’s Day excursion lasts nearly 7 hours, departing Grapevine just after noon, traveling to the Stockyards, and returning later that evening. The railroad states dad's ticket includes a gift.

Touted as the "Official Railroad of Texas," the Texas State Railroad offers scenic excursions between the towns of Palestine and Rusk. The Father’s Day train ride includes the following, according to the railroad:
"Dad is sure to enjoy time with his family whilst being whisked back in time as we journey through the East Texas Piney Woods on this 4-hour round trip excursion. We will depart from the Palestine TX Rail Depot promptly at 11:00am and traverse the tracks to our Rusk Depot where we will deboard and enjoy a savory catered Father’s Day Lunch on our beautifully decorated grounds by the lake.
Please note this is NOT a Steam Event."

The Texas State Railroad (TSR) offers a unique journey back in time. Established in 1881 by the state of Texas, it originally served to transport hardwood for the construction of a penitentiary and subsequently expanded to support the burgeoning logging industry.
