Nestled in the historic coal country of Huntingdon County, the East Broad Top Railroad (EBT) in Rockhill Furnace is hosting one of Pennsylvania’s most immersive Independence Day events. On Saturday, July 4, 2026, the preserved narrow-gauge railroad transforms into a patriotic hub with steam train rides, rare motorcar operations, hands-on activities, food trucks, and a fireworks finale—all in honor of America’s 250th birthday.
Event Highlights & Schedule (subject to change):
- Northbound Colgate Grove Excursions (Steam): 10:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m., 1:30 p.m. (1-hour roundtrip through rolling hills, forests, and farmland).
- Southbound Pogue Excursions (Steam): 4:00 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7:00 p.m. (recently reopened trackage south of Rockhill Furnace).
- M-1 Motorcar Excursions (celebrating the M-1’s 100th anniversary): All-trackage ride at 2:15 p.m.; Northbound Colgate Grove at 4:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. (1–1.5 hours).
- Additional Activities: Guided shop tours (multiple times daily), locomotive rides, railyard fun including lawn games, speeder/handcar rides, axe throwing, and station activities from 5:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m.
