🍦🚂 I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!
The Railroad Museum of New England (RMNE) and the Naugatuck Railroad are bringing back one of Connecticut’s sweetest summer traditions: The Connecticut Ice Cream Train. This family-friendly 30-minute excursion through the scenic Naugatuck River Valley is once again cooling off passengers with a large scoop of locally made ice cream while they ride in historic passenger cars.

Passengers enjoy a relaxing round-trip ride from Thomaston Station that takes them through the beautiful Naugatuck River Valley and over the Thomaston Dam. Along the way, families can participate in a fun scavenger hunt with a prize waiting upon return to the station.
The highlight? A generous scoop of Connecticut-made ice cream from the Nutmeg Fudge Company of Torrington. Classic flavors include Chocolate, Strawberry, and Vanilla.
New for 2026: A dairy-free chocolate option is now available (additional $1 charge per selection, calculated at checkout).

- Price: $15 per person (all ages) — ice cream included.
- Duration: Approximately 30 minutes.
- Departure: Thomaston Station, 242 East Main Street, Thomaston, CT.
- Allergen Note: Ice cream may contain or come into contact with common allergens (dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish). Cross-contamination is possible.
These trains are extremely popular and often sell out, so advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.
