Published: July 5, 2025
By: Adam Burns
In the heart of Florida’s lush landscapes and thriving tourism industry, a unique attraction has emerged that transports visitors not just across geographical spaces but through millennia of history.
Welcome to dinosaur themed train rides, a captivating blend of entertainment, education, and nostalgia. This attraction offers families, dinosaur enthusiasts, and curious explorers an unforgettable journey back to the age when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Let's embark on this adventure detailing what you can expect from this prehistoric train ride.
All Aboard the Dinosaur Express
Dinosaur themed excursions are designed to offer more than just a scenic journey. These rides are a comprehensive experience that combines the thrill of train travel with the wonderment of discovering ancient creatures. The trains, meticulously crafted to mimic the steam locomotives of the early 20th century, add an extra layer of authenticity and charm to your journey.
There is currently only one location hosting such an event in Florida, at Dinosaur World in Plant City.
Dinosaur World
Dinosaur World in Plant City is an engaging theme park that takes visitors back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Spanning 20 acres, it features over 200 life-sized dinosaur models set in a lush, natural environment, offering educational and interactive exhibits for families and dinosaur enthusiasts.
Attractions include fossil digs, where children can discover authentic fossils, and a dinosaur-themed playground for hands-on fun. The park's lush pathways encourage exploration, and the prehistoric museum provides educational insights into the science and history of dinosaurs. Dinosaur World provides an enjoyable and informative experience, ideal for sparking curiosity in visitors of all ages.
While the attraction does not feature an authenic train pulled by historic locomotives and passenger cars it does operate the "Dino Express," a trackless train that travels around the grounds allowing guests and kids to see all of the exhibits.
Interactive Elements
For those eager for a more hands-on experience, these themed train rides do not disappoint. The ride includes several interactive elements that engage passengers of all ages. Onboard interactive screens allow younger passengers to participate in virtual fossil digs, dinosaur trivia, and puzzles. These activities are designed to enhance understanding and retention of the educational content presented during the journey.
Moreover, throughout the ride, there are scheduled stops where passengers can disembark to explore themed dinosaur parks. These parks often feature dig sites where children can excavate replica fossils, providing a tangible and tactile aspect to their dinosaur adventure. Additionally, live demonstrations, such as dinosaur movement shows with animatronics, offer thrilling spectacles that captivate audiences.
Final Thoughts
These train rides offer a unique, multifaceted experience that beautifully blends education and entertainment. By combining the nostalgia of train travel with the intrigue of prehistoric life, it captivates the imaginations of visitors young and old. Whether you're a resident Floridian or a tourist exploring the Sunshine State, this attraction deserves a spot on your itinerary.
As you plan your visit, remember that the Dinosaur Express is more than just a ride—it's a journey through time that promises to educate, entertain, and inspire. As the train whistle blows and the engine starts to hum, you'll find yourself transported back millions of years, surrounded by the extraordinary creatures that once ruled the earth. It's an adventure that is sure to leave a lasting impression long after your journey has ended.
