Maine Halloween Train Rides (2026)

Published: September 29, 2026

By: Adam Burns

Maine’s posted 2026 Halloween rides are at Kennebunkport and Alna. Seashore Trolley Museum’s 28th annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley runs four weekends into October 18, and every guest picks a pumpkin. Happy Trolleyween is October 23, 24, and 25 at $15. The WW&F Railway Museum Pumpkin Pickin’ Train to SeaLyon Farm is October 3, 12, 17, and 24. Downeast Scenic still has a Pumpkin Train booking item for October 17 and 18, and that item does not print the year.

Seashore Trolley Museum

(Kennebunkport): The 28th annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley is Friday through Sunday, September 25 through 27; Friday through Sunday, October 2 through 4; Friday through Monday, October 9 through 12, including Indigenous Peoples’ Day; and Friday through Sunday, October 16 through 18. Trolleys leave at 9:45, 10:30, 11:15, 12:00, 12:45, 1:30, 2:15, and 3:00. The ride to the patch is about 30 minutes. Every guest, adults included, picks a pumpkin. The campus adds painting, a craft-in-a-bag, a Hannaford cookie walk, and a photo scavenger hunt. Ages 17 through 59 are $17. Ages 60 and older are $15. Youth ages 6 through 16 are $15. Children ages 3 through 5 are $9. Under 3 is free. Members are 50 percent off with an email code. The museum is 195 Log Cabin Road, Kennebunkport. Phone (207) 967-2800. The campus itself is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., through October 25. The ordinary campus ride is a different ticket.

Happy Trolleyween

(Kennebunkport): Happy Trolleyween is Friday through Sunday, October 23 through 25, at the same Log Cabin Road campus. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and the last trolley is 3:45 p.m. Admission is $15 a person. Infants from birth through age 2 are free. Members are 50 percent off. Guests trick-or-treat, adults included, and they can ride as often as they like. The museum runs a costume contest and a ghost hunt with a free 2027 family membership as the prize. Costumes are welcome. The 2026 events list and a June press note both carry these three days. Use the museum’s current calendar for the ticket.

WW&F Railway Museum

(Alna): The Pumpkin Pickin’ Train to SeaLyon Farm is October 3, 12, 17, and 24. Departures run on the hour from 10:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. A 3:00 p.m. trip is a 30-minute ride to the farmstand. On October 12 that short trip is the 2:00 p.m. departure. Adults are $29.75. Youth ages 4 through 15 are $19.75. Ages 3 and under are free. The October 3 ticket also lists $26.75 for senior, military, and member fares. The ride is the museum’s two-foot railway from Sheepscot station, 97 Cross Road in Alna, out to the farm. Pumpkins at SeaLyon Farm are sold by size, cash or card, and they are separate from the ticket. The stop has food, Six River cider, beer, and wagon rides. The railway profile is the WW&F Railway Museum.

Downeast Scenic Railroad

(Hancock): The current Pumpkin Train booking item lists October 17 and 18, about one hour. Ages 13 and older are $28. Senior and military fares are $26. Children from birth through 12 are $15. The train stops so children can pick a pumpkin, with decorating stickers and snacks included. The item does not print the year, so match those two days on downeastscenicrail.org before you treat them as 2026. Board at 8 Railroad Siding Road, Hancock. Phone 1-866-449-7245. The pumpkin trip runs from Washington Junction to Ellsworth Falls and back. A 90-minute foliage ride is a different ticket. The Ellsworth American’s September 11, 2026 note on Autumn Gold describes that longer foliage trip, with free tickets for children, from the same Hancock address. The railroad profile is Downeast Scenic. State context is the Maine scenic guide and the Maine fall foliage guide.

Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad

(Portland): The posted 2026 ride is the daily narrated train, Tuesday through Sunday through October 25, about 40 minutes along Casco Bay, at $24. Listed Mondays include October 12 and 19. The museum’s Pumpkin Train page still prints October 19, 20, 26, and 27, and it does not name the year. In 2026 those four dates fall on Monday and Tuesday. A separate page is titled for the 2025 Pumpkin Train. Book a pumpkin ticket when the dated 2026 calendar shows it. The waterfront ride is on the Maine scenic guide. The station is 65 Thames Street. Phone (207) 828-0814.

Planning tips

  • At Kennebunkport, pumpkin trolleys leave from 9:45 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Trolleyween, October 23 through 25, is a $15 campus day, and the last trolley is 3:45 p.m.
  • At Alna, the fare does not include a pumpkin. SeaLyon Farm sells them by size. On October 12 the short farmstand trip is the 2:00 p.m. departure. On the other three days the short trip is 3:00 p.m.
  • Downeast’s pumpkin item omits the year. Match October 17 and 18 on the railroad’s site before you book. The September 11 Autumn Gold weekend was a foliage ride from the same station.
  • Portland’s posted 2026 train is the daily waterfront ride through October 25.

Always verify 2026 dates and prices on the railroad’s official site. American-Rails.com does not sell tickets.
