TVRM North Pole Limited (2026): Chattanooga Dates, Tickets & Tips

Chattanooga’s Christmas train since 1999 is the North Pole Limited at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. About 75 minutes in heated vintage coaches from Grand Junction Depot: cocoa, cookies, a short story, lights near the depot, and Santa walking the assigned seats. Traditional Day is $38; Traditional Evening $45. It is TVRM’s own product, not a licensed Polar Express event. Tennessee’s Polar host is Big South Fork. TVRM also runs Santa’s Hiwassee Holiday from Delano, a Summerville Santa Special, a Christmas dinner train, and a post-Christmas lights ride.

About the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum

TVRM has operated from Grand Junction at 4119 Cromwell Road since 1961. The year-round Missionary Ridge Local still does the tunnel, the bridges, the East Chattanooga turntable, and the restoration shop. North Pole Limited uses that same short railroad as a Christmas set: you stay on the train at the North Pole while Santa boards. It is an onboard show, not a long scenic and not a continuous light-show ride.

What the Ride Is Like

Arrive 30 minutes early. Assigned seats keep families together in enclosed, heated cars. Hosts serve hot chocolate and a cookie to ticketed guests age one and older. A short seasonal story and carols fill the outbound. Lights cluster at the depot and the North Pole area, not the whole six miles. Santa boards; you stay seated for greetings and photos. Each family gets an ornament; each ticketed child gets a jingle bell. Lap infants do not get cocoa, a cookie, or a bell.

It is not a sightseeing trip through Missionary Ridge Tunnel as the main event. If you want the tunnel, turntable, and shop tour, book the regular Missionary Ridge Local on another day.
