About the Cumbres & Toltec

Jointly owned by Colorado and New Mexico as a historic steam railroad, the C&TS offers full-line and shorter day products with Osier lunch stops on many packages. This is big mountain narrow-gauge: long grades, aspen tunnels of gold in peak weeks, gorge drama, and steam sound in thin air. Full-line trips are a full-day commitment with a traditional lunch stop at Osier on many tickets. Fall weekends can match July crowds; book early and treat weather as variable (snow is not impossible at pass elevations in late season).
